Svetlost

Svetlost is a non-idiomatic/improvisational trio from Skopje, consisting of Kristijan Novkovski (drums), Ninoslav Spirovski (clarinet, soprano saxophone, and tenor saxophone), and Deni Omeragić (bass, synthesizers, and electronics). Recognized for their spontaneous artistic expression and cross-genre aesthetics, Svetlost has established itself as one of the most significant contributors to the contemporary creative scene. In a short period from October 2019 to April 2020, they released three critically acclaimed albums—Odron Ritual Orchestra, Jazz (to the working class), and Six Years — albums that helped launch the PMG Jazz record label. Working during the early period of the COVID pandemic under non-standard conditions, the culmination of their first creative phase was the concert at the 39th Skopje Jazz Festival, rounded off with A Wave Returns To The Ocean, their fourth release. At the beginning of 2024, they regroup with a clear focus and create their deepest artistic material to date, titled Everything Was As It Had Been A Minute Ago, inspired by moments of personal loss, feelings of alienation, a loss of faith in the possibility of social equality, empathy for the victims of new wars, and Davidic struggles against the Goliath capitalist machine.
