MICHAL KAŠČÁK

Pohoda Festival | SK

Michal Kaščák is a promoter, musician, composer and lyricist. He was the leader of the band Bez ladu a skladu which the New York Times included among the artists who contributed to the fall of the Iron Curtain. In 1997 Michal Kaščák started the Pohoda festival and has been acting as its director, curator, and booker. Pohoda is an art festival where alternative, indie, electronic, punk, and world music meets classical music, along with literature, dance, visual arts, film, and theater. In addition to the festival, the Pohoda team organise also concerts and small festivals, such as the Doma Dobre festival for homeless people.

CODRUTA VULCU

ARTmania Festival | RO

Codruta is the founder and festival director of ARTmania, one of Romania’s most established events with its 14th edition scheduled for 2019, promoting mainly rock and metal acts. She is also a director and founder of Blaj aLive Festival, launched in 2013, which focuses on alternative and electronic music. These two boutique festivals are hosted in Transylvania, the western, historical region of Romania. In 2017, Codruta and her team launched the East European Music Conference with the aim of starting a healthy debate between the Romanian music private sector, international experts and the state authorities, in the context of a market that has witnessed extremely rapid growth in recent years. Raised in the spirit of art and with passion of music, Codruta holds a bachelor degree in Art Photography and a master degree in Art History, from the National University of Arts in Bucharest. In 2017, she started her doctoral research which will see her examine “Festival culture and public policies at national European level”.

VIKTOR TANASKOVSKI

Synaesthetics Festival | MK

Viktor Tanaskovski is a musician and music teacher from Skopje. He studied jazz guitar at “Goce Delcev” university in Stip, where he graduated in 2016. So far he has been a part of many music projects, such as Alcos Saloon, Nomads, Rover’s Hangover, Lorekeeper’s Guild and so on. Apart from playing in clubs and teaching guitar and bass in “Pianoforte” music school, his main project is Minstrel’s Gallery, a progressive/art rock group in which he is doing most of the composing, writing, and visuals. With Minstrel’s Gallery as a host band, Viktor have organized many events, among which most notable are the Acoustic Breakfast (autumn 2017), Synaesthetics (spring 2018, together with Anna Knezhevikj), and Semi-acoustic Breakfast (autumn 2018). The idea behind these events, especially Synaesthetics, was to combine all kinds of arts and crafts in the same place at the same time, such as music, poetry, visual arts, handmade crafts bazaar, cooking, and so on.
