MAIKA MAKOVSKI is not a predictable artist. Her musical talent, the multitude of her influences, and the urgency of her constantly searching spirit make her a truly unique name in music today.
Since the take-off of her career when she barely was 20 years old, she has put out 8 studio albums, two of which were produced by John Parish, and toured extensively throughout Europe, the US and Latam. Maika has written music for film, and worked repeatedly alongside theatre’s enfant terrible Calixto Bieito. She has performed on stages as varied as the Barbican in London, the Residenz in Munich, Primavera Sound in Barcelona, the Bienale in Venice and most recently MadCool Festival in Madrid.
Until the pandemic, she was the host of Spanish National TV’s live music show “La Hora Musa” that featured artists like Franz Ferdinand, Cat Power, Jungle, Jorja Smith, Texas and a long etcetera.
Makovski’s music has been featured in films and advertisements (Victoria’s Secret, Lladró) and she has collaborated with artists like Howe Gelb (Giant Sand) and Jim Barr (Portishead).
Her live shows are her true forte, from her energetic one-woman-band solo shows to her dynamic and charismatic band of multi-instrumentalists, to the more subtle shows with strings.
