Violeta Kachakova

Violeta Kachakova is a cultural manager, producer, music publisher, researcher, and cultural policy consultant. As the president of the Association for the Development of Music and Culture “КRАЈ VARDAROT” (Skopje), she leads initiatives to advance contemporary music and culture through promotion, education, research, festivals, digitalization, and advocacy.

Established in 2019, the association supports emerging musicians while integrating indigenous and global contemporary expressions. Among its key initiatives is the annual Kraj Vardarot Jazz Festival. Kachakova also represents the PMG Recordings music label, founded and developed by Mirko Popov over 25 years. The label’s main yearly event is the PMG Recordings Festival.

From 2018 to 2021, she was part of the expert team preparing Skopje’s candidacy for the European Capital of Culture. Previously, she worked as a project manager at the NGO Lokomotiva Centre for New Initiatives in Art and Culture (2006–2020) and co-founded Kino Kultura, a project space for contemporary performing arts and culture (2015–2020).

For 15 years, she also hosted a weekly music program on Kanal 103, one of Skopje’s most prominent independent radio stations.

Kachakova is committed to improving skills and working conditions in the cultural sector, with a strong focus on advocating for the rights of non-institutional artists and cultural workers. Her work spans national and international levels, contributing to the development of cultural policies, strategies, and collaborations between local and global stakeholders.

Her expertise bridges cultural production and policy, driving innovation and sustainability in the arts while addressing the challenges faced by independent cultural actors.
