Founding Faith No More member and bass player, Billy Gould saw the beginning of 2015 with exciting projects. “I feel alive, thank god” he says. Since 2009 and after a large hiatus, he has been touring with FNM, but this year they’ve finally released a new album: Sol invictus.
Also a producer, composer and head of independent label Koolarrow Records, Billy has been in the music industry for over thirty years: “What I like is meeting new, enthusiastic people in whatever kind of project, or working with old friends I’ve known for decades” he shares about his diverse and successful career.
“I like to explore new sounds and styles of playing, but I’m also driven to find ways to make my current sound better” he tells about his own growth as a musician. This constant need to find new ideas led him to Darkglass: “I was at the NAMM show about 3 years ago and heard people talking about you” he explains. “I went to the booth and I loved the tone of the pedals. It felt like the bass tone was finally being taken into the 21st Century”.
Now a owner of a Microtubes B7K and a Duality Fuzz he uses them for record sessions. And he shares the experience: “They have a great tone… I especially like the midrange color, it’s a tone that works very well with my approach to playing”. Something that he also applies in his live shows with FNM: “With this band, going into a show you need to have the mentality of a boxer… knock out or get knocked out!”.
