Hugo Ferreira

Hugo Ferreira has been a radio host and promoter at University Radio in Coimbra and FADEIN Festival and then founded a private non profit cultural cooperative (CCER / OMNICHORD), developing music programs with schools in his hometown Leiria and recording, releasing and managing this high school’s new artists that soon got national and international careers, such as SURMA, FIRST BREATH AFTER COMA or WHALES .

Now Omnichord has working contracts with a complementary young team of 13 of those former Leiria students who turned out to be skilled cultural workers (from musicians to videographers, from technicians to producers).

Chosen by IMPALA for the “FIVEUNDERFIFTYEEN” award (most inspiring european music labels with less than 15 years), OMNICHORD has been represented with artists or with Hugo in european, american and asian professional festivals as ESNS, Reeperbahn (Hamburg and New York), Ment, MaMA, Europavox, Midem, SIM São Paulo, SxSW, Strawberry, This Is My City, BIME, Primavera Pro, Waves, MIL, Great Escape, Iceland Airwaves, Linecheck, …

CCER MAIS has also been a reference in community and educational projects with projects as “Music is Hardworking” in schools or the recording, tour and documentation of“5ª Punkada” ( a band with users from a cerebral palsy association) and has just been selected as one of 15 European projects at last Creative Flip’s Learning Labs program. Hugo also founded and presided Why Portugal (Portuguese private music export office) and was former president of AMAEI (Portuguese independent labels association).
