Mateja Meh earned her master’s degree in science from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (University of Maribor), majoring in Media Communications. During her studies she was part of the organizing team of the International Student Film Festival Student Cuts. The festival encouraged and promoted the new generation of filmmakers and the most creative of all film formats – the short film. Between 2014 and 2016, she was head of PR at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. At the same time, she became part of organization team of TEDx Maribor, where she was head of PR and executive producer. At the time, the team organized two TEDx events in Maribor. After leaving her job
at the faculty, she briefly worked as a journalist at one of the largest newspaper houses Večer. At the end of 2016, she became part of Hiša! Society where she was worked on and learned about executive production. Over the last 6 years, she worked on projects such as Festival of Walks, Living Courtyards at Festival Lent and Fairy Town Festival, which she executive produced for the first time in 2019. Between 2017 and 2019, she was helping with the Creative Europe-funded project LUCity. The goal of the project was to create an exciting series of light installations in both degraded urban spaces and in festivals. She was also a mentor to young people who joined the Hiša! Society through different Erasmus + programs. As of March 2022, she has been working at Narodni dom Maribor as a Marketing Associate.
NARODNI DOM MARIBOR is the second largest cultural centre in Slovenia and organizesmore than 1.500 events per year. Aside from season programme cycles of classical music, comedy, and events for children and the youth, its largest projects include various festivals: international summer multicultural Festival Lent, which combines a series of other major festivals, such as the CIOFF International Folklore Festival Folkart, jazz festival JazzLent, stand-up comedy festival StandUpLent, festival of street theatre Ana Desetnica, and summer festival Art Kamp (Art Camp) for children, young people, and families. Narodni dom Maribor also organizes one of the most eminent classical music festivals, Festival Maribor, and the winter festival Vilinsko mesto (Fairy Town) for children and families.
