Chris Cooke from CMU will present a user-friendly overview of the key debates around digital music and the streaming economy, including how monies are allocated to tracks and shared with rights-holders and music-makers each month. He’ll also provide a speedy guide for independent artists and labels navigating the digital market and selecting a digital distributor.
CMU is a UK-based company that helps people to navigate and understand the music business. Chris has been working with the UK’s Music Managers Forum on explaining the streaming business via the ‘Dissecting The Digital Dollar’ project since 2015. He also wrote the ‘Distribution Revolution’ report for the UK’s Association Of Independent Music and has written a number of reports on digital music trends as part of IMPALA’s One Step Ahead initiative.
